ABOUT YOGA

A person who
becomes aware of the need to improve, who adopts certain disciplines to experience
inner unity, and who, in the course of time, expresses that inner unity in the
outer world is known as a yogi. Yoga is a process of moving from personal to the
universal. This opens up the heart, which is the most important thing in life.
A person is a
combination of dynamism, emotion, psyche, and intellect. Simultaneous
development of these four aspects helps to develop an integrated personality.
Yoga means ultimate union. When union between the pranic and mental forces
takes place, higher consciousness is awakened.
The main objective
of Hatha yoga ( Ha’ stands for vital energy and Tha’ stands for mental energy) is
to create an absolute balance between body, mind and energy.
Yoga is a universal
science designed to give a healthy body and a healthy mind to every person.
Yoga is for everybody-- children, youth, middle-aged, the elderly, men, women,
and the disabled can practice yoga.
Yoga postures aim
to release blocked energy from the body points. In ha-tha yoga, the asanas
(postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), mudras (physical gestures) and
bandhas (locks) are systems of purification, which are important prerequisites
to spiritual awakening.
Hatha yoga is
ultimately indeed for developing human consciousness, not just body or mind.
Proper yoga practice increases awareness, improves concentration, and provides
real relaxation. As the body systems recharge and blockages are removed, prana
(vital energy) flows freely. One is able to perceive connections between body
and mind.
The goal of Kasi Yoga is to promote unity by maintaining physical, mental,
emotional, and spiritual health.
Kasi Yoga
approaches union/yoga mainly through hatha yoga practices of asana (postures),
pranayama (breathing), mudra (gestures), and bandha (energy locks). Kasi Yoga
also teaches mantra yoga and meditation. Read more about Kasi Yoga here.
